Cooperative control of multi-agent systems has attracted significant interest within the systems and control community, driven by its potential to real-world applications. Such applications include search and rescue by a team of unmanned ground and aerial vehicles, and ocean sampling using a fleet of underwater gliders. In this talk, we will present the cooperative output consensus problem for heterogeneous linear multi-agent systems utilizing an event-triggered control framework. We will begin with an overview of the event-triggered control paradigm, highlighting its efficiency and practicality by reducing unnecessary communication and control updates. We will then introduce a novel distributed event-triggered control strategy designed for achieving cooperative output consensus of multi-agent systems under switching network topologies. We address potential challenges such as continuous monitoring and Zeno behavior, which could lead to system instability. Our methods contribute solutions to these issues, paving the way for more sustainable and efficient multi-agent system operations.
